Spiritual evolution is part of every soul’s destiny on Earth, and each soul grows and evolves at a different rate. You are right where you need to be.
Awakening spiritually is a process of curiosity and discovery. First comes the desire for more profound satisfaction and contentment in life. When that yearning arises, feeling there is something more than meets the eye, the journey begins.
Most people walk around in a state of pre-awakening. It is similar to the fog we experience when we are half-awake from a dream, still in the dream world but with a sense of being in the awakened world, except that we think we are fully awake.
When the veil between our unconscious and conscious minds is pierced, glimpses of the enormity of consciousness are witnessed. Making the unconscious conscious is essential for personal growth and evolution. Simply put, we make this change when we accept the responsibility for our participation in our lives. This means acknowledging that we have the power to influence every single aspect of who we are. Our actions, reactions, beliefs, behaviors, judgments—you name it, we own it.
Unconscious beliefs lie at the core of our emotions and thoughts. We may think that is who we are, but it is not. Thankfully, they can be changed; however, it takes more than willpower.
The process begins with noticing how we act, including our thoughts toward our family, work, and the world around us. A practical approach is to develop a mindfulness perspective to observe our interactions, actions, and reactions more closely. Then, we can identify the knee-jerk responses, defensiveness, justifications, blame, victim mentality, and anger that indicate what requires our examination.
Once we recognize these aspects of ourselves, we are halfway there.
Our unconscious mind is accessed by shifting how we use language, which can override negative subconscious thoughts. However, we cannot eliminate a thought without replacing it with another; for example, replacing “I can’t” with “I can” or “I’m a loser can be replaced with “I am a winner.”
The unconscious mind is often referred to as the subconscious. There are many approaches to converting that which lives in the shadows, but most importantly, it requires the desire to grow.
Making the unconscious conscious transforms the aspects of who we are today into the person we are destined to be.
Remember, we cannot remove a thought, behavior, or belief without replacing it with one of greater good.
Meditation replaces overthinking.
Take a digital detox regularly. Read rather than binge on streaming shows.
Change your environment. Seek out nature and quiet spaces to discover the benefits of earthing, also known as grounding.
When you are tired, rest, then begin again.
Curb your self-indulgence and practice controlling your will and habits. Aim for delayed gratification rather than overindulgence.
Replace toxic friends with supportive and caring ones.
Eat whole, natural, unprocessed food instead of fast food.
Monitor your alcohol intake and replace it with nonalcoholic beverages or pure water from Mother Earth.
Consciously watch your thoughts. When negativity enters, notice it, let it go, and replace it with positive ones.
Practice deep breathing. Many people breathe shallow, short breaths, especially when tense or stressed. Breath is life and has mighty rejuvenating powers.
When we begin the journey inwards, the results may be subtle. Sometimes, you may feel lost and disconnected, unsure of where you belong. You may feel distant from people you have always known, but hang in there; you will soon notice that your sense of self improves.
Your friends may notice that you’re changing, and your desire to be with fewer people or to be alone may intensify. Your growth will be evident in your increased passion for personal development across various areas of your life. You will feel motivated to seek out situations that align with your new vibration. Confidence and happiness will radiate from you, giving you a sense of stability and encouraging you to seize new opportunities.
Falling back into negative self-talk is a natural and understandable response, and it’s perfectly okay. The more you catch yourself, the less frequently it will happen. Be kind to yourself when this happens, pause, and take a deep breath. Soon, your inner conflicts will subside, and a sense of peace will fill the void.
Awakening brings awareness, but making the unconscious conscious requires effort. Like everything worth having, it is worth working for. Clarifying your vision and attaining your goals will make it worthwhile. Then, when you realize that challenges are blessings that help further you on your path, you know you have tapped into the wonder of cosmic consciousness.
Once we decide to make a change, we also must understand that we can change the things we can and be mindful enough to let go of the things we can’t.
