There is beauty in the unknown. That creates space for imagination.

~Iris van Herpen

Have you ever heard or felt a nervous hum in the background? That hum isn’t random anxiety – it’s the body trying to get our attention.

I see the sound as something unspoken vibrating under the surface. Think of it as your intuition knocking. That low-grade buzz sometimes happens when we are skirting something we don’t want to face. Avoidance isn’t silent; it’s static. And it is a reminder that avoidance costs energy even when we think we are doing nothing.

Yet, as with all things, energy can be shifted in the micro-moment we turn towards the thing. Even for a brief second, the hum will shift. Presence in anything will act as a bridge between the known and the unknown.

So the key is to attune our sensitivities to the smallest inkling. This hum we feel is information, not irritation.  We can notice subtle truths if we slow down to hear them. The hum is asking us to pause- just a breath before we take action. Awareness is the doorway; it is the moment the static becomes a signal.

Once awareness arrives, trust follows, and the next step becomes possible. Sometimes we think of this as a form of courage that turns towards what is true, yet it isn’t dramatic; it is usually a quiet exploration of willingness to hear.

This openness to hear gives us the courage to receive the message.

Our bodies are an amazing instrument of frequency. They will telegraph their needs to us, but most of the time, we tune them out. When we become quiet, we allow the body to speak without hurry, allowing the truth to surface and evolve, trusting that presence won’t overwhelm but will instead reorient perspective.

At this moment, the hum will shift, not because any big problem has been solved, but because you are no longer turning away.

Once again, my horse has brought this awareness to my attention. In fact, each and every moment I am with the horses, I observe that they are the masters of presence. A horse’s smallest shift, a flick of an ear, a flared nostril, the tightening of an eye,  are their reactions to the hum. Subtle and easy to miss, yet they carry the entire reality of that precise moment.

These reactions mirror our own internal signals. The key to any transformation is becoming keen observers.

Awareness comes first; noticing the flicker is the micro-shift.

Courage and trust come next;  make the choice to listen to what that shift is telling you.

Presence bridges the gap between the known and the unknown. When I respond to my horse’s tell, the whole energy changes, as it does with us.

Life offers us endless invitations to participate at the depth we are willing to notice. The more attuned we become, the more the world reveals its quiet brilliance. What lives beneath the surface has always been there waiting for those curious enough to pause, look, and listen.

In the quiet moment, we turn towards what hums beneath the surface, and everything begins to realign.

Because it is in that leap to the unknown where you will find your wings.
